Nanyang lies in the southwest of Henan province named WAN in ancient,it was named the historical cultural city by the State Council .Liu Xiu,theGuangwu emperor of Dong Dynasty set up here,so known as emperor’township.And there was a lot of historical great mans such as Zhang Heng of Science Holy,Zhang Zhongjing of Medicinal Holy,Fan Li of Commercial Holy and Zhu Ge-liang of Wise Holy,etc. in history.
Nanyang is the largest prefecture--level city of Henan Province,has jurisdiction over 1city,2districts and 10counties,with the total population of 10,700,000 now.In2004,the gross domestic product of the whole city was up to 89,200 million Yuan(data is from the official site),was the second in the whole province. Nanyang is the main traffic road forHenan,Hubei ,Chongqi,Shaanxi because of its advantageous geographical position,it runs through north and south,connects with east and west, Ning--xi Railway and Jiao--zhi Railway cross here,and it also is the headstream of national key item South--North Water Diversion.
Nanyang urban area takes up nearly 50 square meters,with nearly a million permanent resident populations, is the Midwest regional center city of 21st century.
